PaSSaR: Nektar
I love how always changing my job is.
Mystical creatures? With wings? And more cool stuff? almost 5 meters high? ALRIGHT!
The amazing people of PaSSaR (being Petro and Iris) make many cool performing arts acts. They are hard to describe in one (or two, three..) sentences as they do so much but they are seriously amazing! Do check out their website (click) after you’re done looking at the...

Lieke (The Brave)
A few weeks back I received a phonecall by Anke, she told me about her friend Lieke. Lieke just fought her way through chemo therapy and was on the verge of kicking breast cancers butt. To finish her treatment she has to undergo surgery to remove her breasts. Anke asked me if I would perhaps make some photos of Lieke. I didn’t think twice and said yes. Ofcourse. If I could do anything that...

Thyra's Graduation!
Yay! Another graduation! This time it’s Thyras! The photos we made were only part of her greater scheme in which she launched a new lingerie line in a hotel room setting. It was a whole event, and very cool.
We got to make the photos in the Fashion Hotel in Amsterdam, and I got to meet fabulous Peter Dwars who did the make up on lovely Esmee.
I already knew Thyra was amazing ofcourse,...

The Big Flashmob
We’ve been working on this for quite some time. When I say we I mean The Big Yes (click) ofcourse and not myself in plural. We figured we should do fun things to make people happy, and what’s more fun than organizing a flashmob with a choir and snacks for the audience? Right? I don’t know what is.
SO without further ado here it is:
I’m so psyched about it. Not just...

Geert & Stephanie & Melle
On a very very cold but sunny day I travelled to Dordrecht to meet baby Melle. And ooh such a pretty little girl Geert and Stephanie made! Meet little Melle!
Little tiny fingers and a very proud dad!
I love these tiny teensy feet and toes and fingers. Her mom and dad warned me she would probably be fast asleep when I was there. Though the opposite was true! Miss Melle decided the big black...

Wij Zijn Gestrand
Lately I’ve been up to lots of stuff that takes a long time to process. Or at least a longer time than a photoshoot! But more to come and finish soon!
One of these things was the making of a promo clip for Wij Zijn Gestrand. We were allowed to do this at Beachclub Havana where Richard and Rick actually started playing. It wasn’t a typical summerthing as it was quite literally...

Nominated for a Bruidsfoto Award!
Woohoo! How awesome is that? Not just one category! Two! I’m psyched! I sent in my favorite wedding photos and two of them got nominated in the categories ‘Ceremonie’ and ‘Groepsportret’.
These are the photos that got nominated!
Do you recognize the lovely Nathalie and Roman?
As is the case with many competitions, I could use a little help! You can vote for me!

Emely & Lesley
A cute couple? Red hair and guitars and adorableness in general? And also: the probably last sunny day in november. All this combined adds up in a superfun photoshoot with Emely and Lesley! They’ve been together for three months so this was even a bit of a celebration!
Not only a celebration for them, but also for me! This was my try-out session for City-Sessies and I can now proudly say...

Ayla!
Willeke and Jan-Jaap have made the cutest little fluffy girl imaginable and named her ‘Ayla’. Not only a super nice Irish name (I’m sticking with Irish, obviously) but also based on one of my favorite books! How awesome is that. Not only is her name awesome but so is she. It’s very awe inspiring to be with a tiny little human that’s only been around for 13 days. I daresay mom and dad did a great...

Jennifer & Rick
As mentioned before, it’s the month of love here. Jennifer and Rick asked me for a shoot with the two of them together and I jumped to answering yes before they ended their question.
I’ve known Rick for around five years now (yeah that long!) and obviously his guitar was coming with. Jennifer has amazing baking skills so clearly some food was to come as well. What I didnt know was she...

Veerle & Edwin
Cute couple? Skateboards? Photos? Awesome! This coupleshoot was in Spijkenisse. Please don’t ask me where exactly cause I don’t know. It was very pretty though!
Look at these two pretty people :) They were real troopers cause it was a whopping THREE degrees out there. Seriously not funny! But they got trough it wet and cold and still smiling!
These two have been together for almost...

Wij Zijn Gestrand
I’ve so totally spammed all of you already with this shoot but I have to blog about it ANYWAY. I mean, inflatable crocodile. Your argument is invalid.
I loved doing this shoot!
Oh and I promised an inflatable crocodile (and also lots of other beach stuff, thank you Pieter/De Beuk and Alicia!).
Do you see the 007 pose boyfriend is pulling off there? Epic. Seriously, any time this...

Nathalie & Roman
Yaaaaay! That very much summarizes this wedding for me :)
Yay on all fronts. It’s the first wedding I took photos at together with my amazing father! And also my amazing boyfriend was there as an assistent! Things went so well I don’t really want to go anywhere without either of them ever again. Which is very impractical but you catch my drift.
You might have seen a bit of a preview...

Jan-Jaap & Willeke
Aren’t these two gorgeous? I sure think they are!
Jan-Jaap and Willeke e-mailed me from their holiday in France (where JJ proposed!) to ask me if I would take photos for their wedding. OF COURSE I would! I was honored! The day ended up being completely relaxed and stress-free and tons of fun. Apart from Jan-Jaap and Willeke looking amazing they managed to find stunning locations, have...

Marry Marv
Remember the shoot with the snow and the cold and the tough looking guys? Well I did that again with just Marry Marv and a lot better weather!
So much good weather that I took all the photos in the shade (I learned recently I should call this open shade, there now you know as well).
I have this new details obsession going on, which mostly reveals itself in pictures of hands but oh well ;)

Takkie
There’s a dachshund epidemic going on and I don’t mind at all :)
Look at those tiny paws and that tiny soaked tail! I had a lot of fun with Thyra and Takkie. A bite of lunch at Dudok and then out with Takkie for his photoshoot. He’s a supermodel as long as his treats are around ;)

Willeke's Bachelorette
A bachelorette party? And I’m invited with my camera? AND it’s a high-tea? I’m all in ofcourse.
This high-tea was a little way back, but since I get to post the wedding pictures soon I figured this was a good a time as any to post this fabulous girly afternoon!

Geen School!
A while back amazing Alette invited boyfriend and me to participate in the first Geen School dag (no school!). It meant the kids could do something out of the ordinary schedule for a week. They could pick any of their dreams and just go and do it with all the help needed at their fingertips (each kid had an individual coach, workshops according to their ‘profiles’ were sprung on them...

Update!
I’m so behind on this blog I’m a bit ashamed to be honest! To make up for my terrible discipline I’ll just post most of what I’ve been upto in the last few weeks (I can’t post everything yet as some people haven’t seen their photos yet and I am SO THRILLED to be going to show them!).
You all remember the tractor hunt right? Well this is the result! I’m...

Cool Fresh
Remember that time when Richard played for the Queen? Well I do. I also got to meet the very inspiring Nic Jooste who does all kinds of cool things for his company Cool Fresh (do visit their website, and do read about the project called Stars in Their Eyes). They had some new employees that needed a photo for their website and whatnot and Nic asked me to make them! Woohoo!
Apart from the...

Elvado
Elvado, or as I like to call it ‘advanced puppy-class’ recently did a demonstration day. It was miraculously sunny and I brought my camera to run around and play with.
To bring honor to the name I came up with, there actually ARE puppy’s in Elvado! Cuteness!
Elvado showed the audience several exercises. This little wooden box was now out in the open and can represent any...

Amber
Another lovely sunny shoot with another lovely girl! You’ve maybe heard about Amber from me before as she was the amazing singer for Richard’s graduation project!
So yet another roadtrip and some cookies and I was in Ouddorp for a shoot with this fab lady!
There was such peace and quiet there! It was amazing. The sun had such a nice glow it made Amber’s hair seem a nice red...

A roadtrip? A photoshoot? Cookies? I’M IN.
Thus commenced a trip to the sandiness that is the Lonense en Drunense Duinen (I’ve probably got the name wrong..).
From the minute we left the car we were just surrounded with the cutest and nicest people who were apparently also a bit shocked that two girls as pale as us were out in the sun. Nevertheless they advised us to use sunblock and...
Music Music Music!
Recently I’ve been to quite a few band competitions and to not spam everyone with a million pictures of these I’ll combine them all!
First off I was at De Kleine Prijs van Spijkenisse. I was blown away by a metalband with flying v’s who managed to incorporate an actual disco beat in their songs! Score! Also.. I get to make a videoclip for the winner!
This photo if of the...

Larry Joe & Aron & Richard & The Queen
Recently Larry Joe (click here if you don’t know know this amazing musician and his story yet) and Aron called Richard if he wanted to join them in a performance for the Dutch Queen. Having played with them previously he didn’t have any second thoughts about saying yes! I got to tag along and was even allowed to take photos. Sadly not when the Queen was ‘in the house’ since...

As a surprise for Ron, Kim asked me to take photos of him and their little girl! I loved the idea straight away (how can you not like surprising people) and I also love this little girl!
Don’t you just go AW at that little hand clutching her daddy’s shirt? ‘Mine!’
Tiny feet! Oh man I’m such a fan of her tiny feet and hands :)
Ok before I post every single photo...

Hunkemöller: Saudi Arabia
A few weeks back I was called by awesome stylist Thyra with the following question: “Are you interested in shooting a campagne for Hunkemoller in Saudi Arabia?”. Obviously I was!
This shoot was no easy feat for the styling ladies! In Saudi Arabia (SA) there are rules.. Certainly no models wearing the underwear, but nothing resembling the female body either. So for each line (swimwear,...

This weekend was a busy one! With a secret shoot I’m not allowed to talk about yet, but also the ‘Open Dag’ or Open House at the Popcentrale AND the last (boo!) High School Music Competition in The Hague at Paard van Troje.
The secret shoot will remain secret for now but the Open House and HSMC I can post now of course!
This was the end of the workshop Double Bass (as you can...

Tutorial: Hearing Protection for Concert...
A tutorial on hearing protection? Really? Yeah. Really! I’m going to try to write tutorials on all kinds of photography related stuff and somehow this is going to be my first topic! Keep in mind I’m not an expert on in this case hearing, but I’d like to share my experience with it nevertheless.
Hearing protection is probably the most boring thing ever but it’s so, so, SOOO...

Señor Sandor
The guys from Señor Sandor asked me to make their promo photo and of course I said yes. After a very effective meeting the plan was as follows: ‘make it look like we just got off stage’. Therefore, I went to their show in Roodkapje and took the photo when they just got off the stage =)
And there was a magic DISCOBALL!
I had heard a lot about this band and now I got to see them...

St Patricksday!
If you’re Irish (or have Irish roots like me) you might have been overcome by the urge to wear green and try your best a at a jig or a guinness. I’m talking about St Paddy’s ofcourse! My dance school (Celtic Swing) organized a day with workshops and dancing performances, it was a real blast! The woman behind all this and also my dancingteacher, Marijke, asked me to bring my...

Firebrigade: Hoogtereddingsteam
So. Clearly I don’t have a proper word for ‘hoogtereddingsteam’ but these guys rescue people from CRAZY heights. Really. Crazy. Thanks to Ron Bahnerth I was allowed to join in on one of their trainings and I had a blast!
So. This was the view from where we were standing. Yeah. I think it’s pretty high. The guys from the team were like ‘yeah! Nice and easy this...

High School Music Competition Semi Finals
Last week the Semi Finals for the High School Music Competition took place in WORM, Rotterdam. As always lots of fun, and this time all four categories at once! So that meant 18 bands in one day. Somehow this competition is a bit jinxed for me and I was running a fever during the day (like I was on Making Your Band as well..). Hopefully it’s not a ‘thing’..
Either way! The four...

Making Your Band
Making Your Band is a cool day for bands where they can find tips and advice on basically everything you can think of. The Popunie organizes this day and asked Robert Tjalondo and me to take photos of over 24 acts that day!
These are some of my favorites!
This colorful foursome is called “Kreatones”. I’ve seen them play before in the High School Music Competition and they are...

They’re standing on a swimming pool. In case you’re wondering where the bright blue tiny wall behind them came from. It’s just well.. frozen.....

Richard is graduating!
There seems to be a graduation theme going on here ;) Since it concerns The Boyfriend this time I felt the serious need to spam you with his graduation project!

He arranged a cool location in a theater in The Hague with great light and even better ...

Graduation part II
Ok. So. It’s quite impossible for anyone to have missed this but nevertheless, I’m posting them! In Graduation Part I was allowed to pick my own topic to make a series about. But for the other assignment I had to make a campaign for Twitter. I decided to be a bit of a critic since people use Twitter to let the world know they are ‘all out of milk’ or of course...

Graduation part I
As you might or might not have noticed: I graduated! Oh yeah! Which is also the main reason I kinda neglected this blog. Completely. After the last post about Tarik everything became very much, busy..
But now! I’m done! And I figure it’s time to show any of you who haven’t seen them the graduation series. Since they are as different as could be I’ll start with the one...

Tarik
As promised a bit more of explaining on the school assignment thing. For the School Cause I asked Tarik if he perhaps has a muse. And YES he does. To start getting to know him and what he does and is able to do I was allowed to visit his training. I actually was bouncing up and down next to him most of the time cause it was so cool.
It took some time to learn how to communicate. I have NO...
Hangover Hero Album Release:
Today Hangover Hero releases their first self titled album. As you might remember I shot some photos for them earlier that will be in the artwork of the album, and used as promo photos as well. Good stuff!
Since I already posted those pics I’ll just stick some photos of their live-show on the Metropolis festival here, as well as a teaser that the guys had made for their now officially...
MakeBelieve playing in Leiden: LVC
It has been at least two years since I last saw these guys play in Watt! It was really great to see MakeBelieve again and how much better they have become. The audience really loves these guys and I had a great time at their show.
Some oldschool black and white photography here, I haven’t done that in a long time! I love how the texture of the floor comes out in it (yes I love the floor,...
Rudy
With some people you just know they’re going to work out great in front of a camera. Rudy is definitely one of those people. This started out as a shoot for one of my school assignments, but for now I’m not really clear yet on where I’m going with that so.. These are some of the results regardless :)
As my school assignment has to do with muses you can see how the above two...
Weddings? Still love them! Marike & Yelins
This summer I was invited to Marike & Yelins wedding, in ‘De Achterhoek’. That could have been the sole reason for me to go there were it not that I was asked by lovely Alette who you might remember from an earlier blog. For this wedding she proved herself to be an epic weddingplanner. So a wedding in De Achterhoek, two of my lovely friends there AND a roadtrip! Hurrah :)
Marike...
Roufaida & Pluck make a video
Obviously I’m a fan of these two ladies. So if someone asks me to come and take photos at their videoshoot of course I bounce right over there.
Flowers and sunshine!
Part of the crew: Robijn and Jorrit (yes his name is Robijn isnt that just epic?). I think the girls were supposed to look at Jorrit’s hand. I think.
You can see why I had a good time here ;) Sadly I...
Turbulent 2011
This was my third time at the Turbulent festival, and a lot has changed from the first time (with it seemed like 10000 kids running around quite drunk in Alcazar) and the second time on a boat (ON A BOAT! Yeah!). This year it was in De Drie Lelies in Puttershoek. If you don’t know where that is. That’s ok. I still don’t.
Either way, earlier the Popunie had asked me to make...

Acts of Happiness: Seth, Shirley and Alette
Last week(end) there were a lot of photo-moments going on. One of them being Seth’s second birthday! Most photographed kid ever already. I think from now on I’ll only visit kids’ birthdays since well, come on. Badass cupcakes are courtesy of Hanna (who you might have spotted earlier in the Hangover Hero photoshoot).
Also I’m so proud to have been a part of this day....
Of Monsters and Men - My Head Is A Monster
I’ve been waiting SO long for this band to record their album. I rarely get so excited about a cd ;)
These guys (and girl) are from Iceland and I’m afraid that’s the only place where you can get the actualy album right now. I guess some more patience is in order. For now you can listen to most tracks here and one on soundcloud here. I can’t seem to figure out which picture...
At the beach with Francis
I’ve been stuck with an image in my head for some time now. I decided that maybe I should just make it and see where it goes from there. For this purpose I dragged lovely Francis to the beach where she suffered the cold and wind for me (and we had the best lunch ever).
So far I love the results. I’m trying to make some animations as well, this one being the first:
I really want...
The Sweet Release of Death @ Exit
I don’t always bring my camera. No. Really. I don’t. I usually regret it. Last week The Sweet Release of Death did their first show in Exit. I expected something more electro-ish, and I didn’t get it. But what I did get was this awesome free ep and a much more interesting rocky grungy edgy show. Enjoy my epic phone photography:
Well, you can at least count how many...
Roufaida & Pluck @ Coffee Company Rotterdam
For the Geen Daden Maar Woorden festival these two lovely ladies played in the Coffee Company, no less than two hours. This day it was a startling 28 degrees outside and everyone was drinking ice coffee of course.
In case I hadn’t mentioned this before, I’m a fan of these two. For obvious reasons. Since they played two hours they brought even more instruments than they usually do and...
